There’s rarely a dull moment in my life. From career goals to fitness challenges, I’m always anticipating the next big adventure. Right now, I’m in the midst of the biggest adventure yet: parenting! My husband, Peter, and I welcomed our first child, Corban, into the world in 2011. In 2013, we welcomed our daughter, Mara. In 2017 we adopted 2 1/2-year-old Haddon from China.
The Next Big Adventure is home to my thoughts, tips, updates and adventures as I learn the ropes of parenting and maintaining our home.
When I’m not busy being schooled by my kids, I enjoy reading, physical activity, being outside (in the winter too!), relaxing with Peter, attempting to decorate our house, cuddling with our two cats (Biggles and Basil) and trying new recipes (many of which are archived at my former food blog for JSOnline, Kitchen Adventures (formerly Post-College Kitchen)). We love entertaining, whether it’s a party or just another couple for dinner. I attempt to be crafty sometimes and I’m on a quest to simplify my wardrobe. This spring I made the difficult decision to leave my job as a multimedia journalist and lifestyle editor for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel to be a stay-at-home mom. I’m a Christ follower and above all I hope my life reflects the love and grace He’s given me.
This blog will change with every new step of my life; it started out about pregnancy, then about being a new parent and pregnant again. Hopefully you’ll get some insight into adoption as we settle into our new family rhythms. Next year, or even next month, it will be about a whole new set of experiences and goals.
